My next play to be on Trump: US playwright

Famed US playwright Tony Kushner has announced that he will author his next play on US President Donald Trump.

Kushner told media that he will focus next on the years before the 2016 election and “how a country commits political suicide,” with Trump as one of the characters.

He also said he play is in its early stages of development.

Meanwhile, Kushner announced that he was working with Steven Spielberg on a remake of “West Side Story,” the beloved 1961 musical film directed by Jerome Robbins and Robert Wise.

The yet-to-be-titled play is in line with other stage productions on Trump, including the New York Public Theater’s reimagining of Shakespeare’s ‘Julius Caesar’.
